Bishop Witold Mroziewski

Bishop Witold Mroziewski, the son of Jan Edmund and Wacława Mroziewski was born on March 25th, 1966 in Augustów, Poland. He attended grammar school in Kolnica, Poland and Grzegorz Piramowicz High School in Augustów, after which he entered the seminary in Łomża in 1985. Father Witold graduated with a master’s degree in theology which he earned at the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL), and was ordained a priest on June 29th, 1991 in the cathedral in Łomża, Poland.

After his ordination, Father Mroziewski began his work in the parish of the Holy Spirit in Kadzidło, Poland. In 1992, he was assigned to the Diocese of Brooklyn and in 1993, began to work in the parish of Our Lady of Częstochowa–St. Casimir as a parochial vicar.

In 1997, Father Witold began his studies of canon law and administration at the Catholic University in Lublin (KUL). In 2000, he was given an assignment as the administrator of Our Lady of Czestochowa-St. Casimir Parish, and became a pastor there in 2002. In 2003, he defended his doctoral thesis and received his doctorate in canon law. In 2005, Father Mroziewski was honored as the Canon of Cathedral Chapter of Łomża. 

Beginning in 2000, Father Witold was an attorney in the Tribunal of the Diocese of Brooklyn, and became a judge there in 2008, working on cases related to marriage. In the years 2008-2015 he was the coordinator of the Polish Apostolate in the Diocese of Brooklyn. In 2009, he was promoted to commander among the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. In 2012, he was nominated as a Promoter of Justice in Canonization Cases and an Assistant Promoter of Justice in Penal Cases. In addition, he was admitted to the Presbyteral Council and the Diocesan College of Consultors. 

In 2013, Fr. Mroziewski became the pastor of the Holy Cross Church in Maspeth, NY and continues to fill that function.

On May 19th, 2015 Rev. Canon Witold Mroziewski was honored with a nomination to bishop from the Holy Father Pope Francis. He received his Episcopal Ordination on July 20th of this year in the co-cathedral of St. Joseph in Brooklyn, NY. 

On June 30th, 2018 Bishop Witold was appointed as the Vicar for Migrant and Ethnic Apostolates for the Diocese of Brooklyn, while remaining Pastor of the Holy Cross, in Maspeth and Auxiliary Bishop.
